From the Heritage Trail FB Page
With the help of Jared Cape and his Eagle Scout project, new trail signs have been created and installed along the hiking paths. A new trail map has been printed which shows the marker locations, distances, and some of the historical sites around the town Common area. The maps are available free of charge at the information booth, the town office building, the library, and the Mountain View Grand. They can also be accessed through the Town of Whitefield’s website.
A formal public re-opening and introduction to the trails will be held on Sunday, July 9th. A hike is planned, which will start at the Whitefield Common at 2 PM. Participants will follow the trail on a 3 mile hike up to the Mountain View Grand. The Mountain View will provide light refreshments at the end of the hike. Return to the Common may be by car, and volunteers will provide transportation if needed.
